On my current reading list
Downloaded another three books onto my kindle - doing my best to support Amazon’s lofty valuation (even though I have no position long or short)… though I’ll spread some link love to Barnes & Noble too, as I’m debating whether to get a Nook….
The Cost of Capitalism by Bob Barbera (a self-avowed follower of Minsky)
Complexity: A guided Tour by Melanie Mitchell (has covered so far wide ranging topics including fractals, Turing machines and machine learning algorithms)
Stephen Roach on the Next Asia (by former Morgan Stanley chief economist Stephen Roach). I wish I read his pieces earlier, where he was early in debunking the myth of global decoupling. That would saved me some pain from watching my commodities positions blow up last year!
As an aside - fellow friends - please continue to send whatever thought pieces you find interesting. My Christmas wish lists include:
Ray Dalio (Bridgewater)
Jeremy Grantham (GMO)
Jim Grant (Interest Rate Observer)
Stephanie Pomboy (Macro Mavens)
Chris Whalen (Institutional Risk Analytics)
Bill Gross, Mohammed El Erian (PIMCO)
John Hussman (Hussman Funds)
Peter Thiel (Clarium)
David Rosenberg (Gluskin Sheff)
